May 23rd, 2013

Plymouth Memorial Hall will play host to live MMA Cage Fighting action once again this summer on Friday, July 26th. The full fight card has yet to be released but here is a sneak peak at just some of the featured fights confirmed so far.  In the Main Event, pro 135lb Cage Titans champion Tateki Matsuda from Sityodtong will battle it out with challenger Ruben Rey from New England Combat. Tateki is one of the region’s most technical strikers and is known for his calm prescense and methodical approach inside the cage. Though many fear his striking game, Tateki also brings an impressive ground game and sports a purple belt ranking in BJJ. As for Ruben Rey, he will bring heavy hands and a strong wrestling background with him in hopes off taking out the champ. Ruben is a known finisher and 5 out of his 6 professional victories came by way of KO/TKO, with all but one of them coming within the first round.

Last event we saw the crowning of 3 new amateur champions and all 3 will be back this show to defend their titles, in addition to ammy heavyweight champ Ed Gillis and ammy flyweight champ Ken Murphy defending. First up, 135lb ammy champion Manny Bermudez from South Shore Sportfighting will put his belt on the line against TriForce/New England Combat stand-out Josh Santana. Then in the 145lb weight class, ammy champ Ruso Khubejashvilli will go to war with the always exciting Peter Barret from MAXX Training Center. Next, Dan Lopez from Boston Muay Thai will bring his 155lb title with him when he takes on knock-out specialist RJ Letendre out of Team KAOS.
