April 5th Event

March 5th, 2014

Cage Titans will once again return to its home venue, Plymouth Memorial Hall, on Saturday, April 5th. The Main event for the evening will feature a little bit of a grudge match between two of the top 135lbers in New England, when ‘Relentless’ Robbie Leroux out of nearby Clinch MMA in Fall River battles it out with South Shore Sportfighting’s Johnny ‘Cupcakes’ Campbell. These two cross-trained together and after a hard sparring session Campbell took exception to how things went down, and ever since has been asking for the chance to settle things. Typically what happens during training stays in the gym, but this time they will be putting it on the line in front of everyone on fight night! Leroux has an extensive wrestling background, winning multiple state titles, and heavy hands while Campbell is well-know for his elusive quickness and unorthodox striking. Neither guy has ever been in a boring fight and the added bad blood should result in what could very well be the Fight of the Night. In the co-main event two fast rising pro 125lbers will square off when #3 ranked Chad Kelly out of Fighting Arts Academy takes on former top ranked amateur Remo Cardarelli from Rivera Athletics. Chad comes in riding a 5 fight win streak, dating back to his amateur career, and trains at one of New Englands top schools alongside World Series of Fighting Star, undefeated Nick Newell. Remo comes in to this fight with a new training camp, now training with UFC veteran Jorge Rivera, and is looking to knock off Kelly in hopes of taking his spot in the rankings.

Also in action two former Cage Titans amateur champions, 145lb Peter Barrett and 185lb Michael Rodriguez, will be making their professional debuts in seperate fights that night. As for Rodriguez, he will be taking on Big Ralph Johnson. Standing 6 foot 5, Ralph has a great stand-up game and ko power in both his hands as all 6 of his pro victories have come via first round KO/TKO. Rodriguez, standing 6’4, went on a tear as an amateur picking up 4 victories, 2 being first round KOs, earning the number 1 ranking in New England and the Cage Titans title. He has shown that his skills are on another level and ready for the pro ranks but will have a big test in front of him in Johnson. You hear the term ‘don’t blink’ all the time in the fight business but this match-up is surely one that definitely should hold true to the over-used hype phrase. As for Barrett, in his pro debut he will be taking on seasoned veteran Christian Rivera. Rivera has been fighting professionally for over 7 years, as both a MMA fighter and boxer, and has fought some of the best guys the region has had to offer. Barrett is a brawling striker and left the amateur ranks behind after knocking out TWO undefeated, #1 ranked fighters in his last two outings, winning and defending his ammy title. Rivera is the type of fighter that is not afraid of standing toe to toe with anyone and will be looking forward to welcoming Barrett to the pro ranks.

And finally in amateur action, top ranked Billy ‘The Kid’ Keenan and Dan Dubuque will fight it out for the vacant 145lb ammy title left behind by the above mentioned Barrett. Both these guys are at the top of the heap in New England in their weight class and are both riding an identical 3 fight win streak coming in to this match-up. Be sure to follow along on the Cage Titans FC Fan Page for breaking fight announcements, specific match-up highlights and interviews that will be released every day leading up the event.
