Cage Titans XXII Announced

December 23rd, 2014

On Saturday, January 24th Cage Titans returns to Plymouth Memorial Hall to kick 2015 off with a bang!  The Main Event will feature a 5 round showdown between two of the hottest fighters right now in New England, when Johnny ‘Cupcakes’ Campbell battles it out with Billy ‘The Wolverine’ Giovanella. Cupcakes (10-5) is coming in off an outstanding 2014 going 5-0 on the year while Giovanella (8-2) comes in on a 4 fight win streak himself, 3-0 in 2014. Both guys plan on starting the new year off right where they left off and look at the other as just another obstacle on their way to the next level!

In the co-main event two of the best strikers in New England will stand toe to toe inside the cage when Chip Moraza-Pollard takes on Ralph Johnson. Chip, nicknamed ‘The Surgeon’ for his precision striking, is known for picking apart any opponent that dare stands with him. As for Johnson, he is the definition of a power striker, throwing everything with ill intentions, with all 9 of his pro victories coming by way of knock-out. Truly a ‘Fight for the Fans’ that has been years in the making and one you will not want to blink during.

In addition, four Cage Titans’ amateur champions will all be defending their titles on this night. First up, 170lb champion Paul Gaffney faces challenger Carlos Correia. Gaffney won the title in a 5 round absolute war from Correia’s teammate back in August. That night in the cage the belt was barely strapped around his waist before Correia, who was cornering, immediately asked for a shot at the new champ. These two will battle it out to see if the belt is going back to DCNU or staying with Team Link NH?

Next up, 155lb champion Jimmy Manning takes on challenger Billy Connors. The Champ Manning, a BJJ wiz, is coming in off back to back, impressive submission victories while picking up the title belt along the way. As for Connors, the Muay Thai specialist, is coming in off stunning consecutive 1st round KO wins, one in 9 seconds and the other in 20 seconds! This is the classic striker verse grappler match-up, what style will be victorious?

In a fight the fans have been waiting for, 145lb champion Ricky Proctor takes on top contender Jeff Perez. Proctor has heavy hands with an extensive wrestling background and uses that style to make quick work of his opponents, ending all but 1 of his fights in the 1st round. As for Perez, the Marine veteran is as tough as they come and earned his crack at the title by KOing his last two opponents in devastating fashion.

And finally, Cage Titans 135lb champion Manny Bermudez battles challenger Max Barrett. This matchup has the feel of an old, schoolyard scrap where you meet up after class and throw down at the playground. Both these fighters grew up and still reside in nearby Abington, literally 5 house away from one an other, and it was only a matter of time these two rising prospects crossed paths. With that being said, not only will the coveted title belt be on the line but also hometown bragging rights!
