Cage Titans XXVI on November 7th

September 5th, 2015

On Saturday, November 7th  Cage Titans returns to Plymouth Memorial Hall for Live MMA Action. The card will be headlined by a double Main Event with the first half being Tateki Matsuda taking on Johnny ‘Cupcakes’ Campbell. Adding to the intrigue of the match-up is that fact that these two fought before over 3 years ago back on Cage Titans 8. At the time, Campbell was just an up and comer while Matsuda was a seasoned pro and they battled it out over 5 rounds for the Cage Titans 135lb title. Matsuda edged out the decision that night and later went on to the The Ultimate Fighter show and the UFC, as Campbell continued fighting locally rattling off entertaining wins. Matsuda now having been to the big show before is hoping that a win here will project him right back, while Campbell is right on the cusp of getting there and if he can pull out the victory, it may be that final push he needs.

The other half of the double Main Event feature is an explosive match-up for the vacant Welterweight Title between ‘The Unpredictable One’ Sean Lally and ‘The Brown Bomber’ Will Santiago. Lally has been on a tear this year picking up wins in each of his 3 outings, with all coming via first round stoppage. (2 KOs, 1 Sub) As for Santiago, he is also a powerhouse and known for knocking guys out quick, with many happening in under a minute. (:21, :27 and :39 seconds) Though we are scheduled for 5, its easy to say that this title fight probably is not going the distance as something has to give when these two unstoppable objects meet!

In other action, the vacant 155lb amateur title is on the line when Joe Giannetti takes on Jacob Weeks. Both these guys are studs on the ground and are always hunting to put their opponents away, as all of their combined wins are via stoppage. (Giannetti – 3 Subs/2 TKO and Weeks – 3 Subs) This sets up to be a high level jiu-jitsu fight with the winner being whoever can impose their will on the other.

Also set to take place, two undefeated prospects meet when Manny Bermudez battles Scott Gorgone. These guys had stellar amateur careers (Bermudez 7-1 and Gorgone 4-0) and have continued their winning ways in the pro ranks, both going 2-0 so far with all of their combined wins coming via 1st round submissions!

Plus, the professional debut of Devin Carrier when he locks horns with Sean Nichols. Carrier is one of the most exciting Cage Titans’ fighters, picking up Fight Night awards in all but 1 of his amateur fights, and will continue his crowd pleasing style in the pro ranks. As for Nichols, he is never in a boring fight himself and brings a very high energy every time he gets in the cage. Both guys are very similar and it’s no secret that they both prefer to stand and trade leather so this is one you will not want to miss either.
