On Saturday, April 9th Plymouth Memorial Hall will play host to Cage Titans XXVIII. In the Main Event, two of the best flyweights in New England face-off when Remo Cardarelli takes on Andy Aiello. These guys fought nearly a year ago at Cage Titans XXIII and it resulted in Aiello silencing the crowd in the first round by landing a perfectly placed body shot. Cardarelli felt he was controlling the fight up until that point and has since been lobbying for this rematch, finally getting his wish. Will Aiello prove once again that he is the better fighter or will Cardarelli exact revenge and show that the first time was just a lucky punch?

Then in the Co-Main Event, Jeff Anderson battles Cage Titans’ mainstay in Peter Barrett. Anderson is a 20 plus fight veteran who has shared the cage with a who’s who of New England’s best fighters over the span of his 8 year professional career. As for Barrett, the rising star is undefeated so far in his pro career, with all 5 wins coming via stoppage, and hopes to make quick work of his opponent to show he is next level worthy. In the end though, Anderson is that gritty gatekeeper and has plenty of times served as a reality check for surging prospects so we will have to see how this one plays out on fight night!

In addition, the rest of the main card will be highlighted by 4 amateur title fights with the flyweight, featherweight, lightweight and welterweight belts up for grabs. First up, 125lb champion Rich Santiago puts his belt on the line against #1 contender Nate Russell. Santiago is coming in hot on a 3 fight win streak and picked up the title last event by stunning the crowd with an impressive first round submission. As for Russell, he sports a perfect undefeated recorded and after winning a belt with another promotion just last month, he is fresh and looks to stay active here with this opportunity to add another title belt to his collection.

Then we will see Angelo Richardson and Bobby Gasdia battle it out for the vacant Welterweight title. Gasdia is a very well-rounded fighter and it shows in his unblemished record, recording wins by both Sub of the Night and KO of the Night performances. Standing across from him will be the only man to truly test him, in one Angelo Richardson. Richardson is a decorated jiu-jitsu fighter and his only loss so far in his career was a razor close split decision to Gasdia. back at Cage Titans XXIV. Both men felt that 3 rounds wasn’t enough last time and jumped at the opportunity to do it again, this time as a 5 rounder with the belt on the line!

The vacant 155lb title fight will be up next when Ryan DiBartolomeo and Alex Ortiz square off. This is a great match up between two top ranked fighters that truly live by the motto, “Anyone, Anytime!” DiBartolomeo has been on a tear as of late, winning 4 of his last 5 while winning a title up in New Hampshire for another promotion. As for Ortiz, he has quickly made a name for himself as one of the slickest strikers in the division, though he would warn you to not sleep on his ground game. In the end, we have one of those fights that just may end up stealing the show so you will not want to miss it!

And in the final title fight of the night, Bryan Rossi takes on Arslan Otchiyev for the vacant 145lb title. Rossi has found a resurgence now training with Sityodtong and has looked very impressive in his last 3 outings, winning all 3 with 2 coming via vicious KOs. As for Arslan, the Speed School stand-out is as tough as they come and even though all of his wins have come via submission, he is always ready to fight no matter where the fight takes place, whether it be a stand-up war or ground battle. These guys have both fought hard to get to this spot and plan on making the most of this opportunity in hopes of taking home the title.

In other action, Keegan Hornstra and Sean Lally finally get to settle the score inside the cage after months of going back and forth verbally and former undefeated, amateur champion Joe Giannetti makes his pro debut as well as former top ranked amateur Carlos Correia in separate bouts.
